Number Five! Of Kristy’s Must Haves… ahhh Coffee

Take it from a chef who owns an award winning cafe to tell you about coffee! As the last of Kristy’s Five Must Have’s for the kitchen is naturally, a good coffee maker. And this classic from House in Bunbury is just perfect.

Coffee Pot

As Kristy says the most important thing to note about great coffee is having good beans. Fresh roasted  course  ground beans are her must important points, so go to your favourite cafe , and ask them to do a filter grind of there fresh beans. Stove top, filtered, fancy machine… it all works if you have the right ingredient!

Enjoy a perfect short black camping on holidays !!! We love coffee and easy coffee can’t be beat!

Thank you again for the lovely Maria at House in Bunbury. What would your Five Must Haves be?

Number Four of Kristy’s Must Haves…

Nothing beats a great steak. And to a chef, nothing beats a steak cooked the RIGHT way!

Kristy’s important tip, use the right fry pan and the right method…here are her very simple but so important instructions!

Preheat your oven to 250°C, season your steak,  heat the pan until it starts to smoke. Sear both sides and then place the pan in your preheated oven. Each cut will be different sizes and thicknesses so use the touch test to cook your steak to how you like it! Rare, medium, well done – it is your choice! When its ready, rest the meat for five minutes. Then eat your perfect steak!

Cinefest Oz Rolls Into Bunbury

As Busselton born Cinefest Oz continues to spread its wings throughout the entire South West, Bunbury shares in the growth with more films and events each year.  Probably one of the most exciting innovations in the Cinefest program is the numerous Side Bars. Dozens of them are popping up from Augusta to Bunbury, and it was a sold out Side Bar at William Barrett and Sons which opened the film program in Bunbury on Wednesday night.  What better venue for a Black Carpet Event than a funeral directors, where the audience was treated to an evening of black comedy!  6 short films covered everything from gay werewolves, jogging, online dating and how a community shares the burden of an accidental death by shooting. Without exception, every film drew snickers and laughs as we journeyed through this eclectic array of film.

VAT2 provided great food to match the Willowbridge wines but the standout was definitely the lolly bar, where we could load out little black and white bags full of sweet and salty goodness before taking our seats in the chapel.

Hosted by Paul Bodlovich from FTI the Q and A  just prior to interval was an awesome way to share in the journey of film making through the eyes of the young team behind award winning films such as “The Fan”.  Don’t miss out on what else is on offer in Bunbury this weekend.  Log onto for a full program and ticketing details.

Number 3 of Kristy’s 5 Must Haves for the Kitchen!

For everyday use, Kristy swears by her little hand grater. From zesting citrus to grating Parmesan cheese, and everything in between, these gadgets are the GRATEST!

So go on and add some zest to your day! Available from House in Bunbury.
